The Trojans Baseball team beat Maplewood 13-0 in five innings to win the Division IV Fairport Harbor District, the school’s first District Championship in baseball since 2009. Senior Clay Anderson pitched 5 innings of shut out baseball with 4 strikeouts to earn the win. The offense did its damage in two innings, the second and the fourth, when it scored 7 and 6 runs respectively. Anderson and senior Jake Visha had two hits, while sophomore John Costello and senior Danny Strenk had two RBI each. “It’s playoff baseball, so every little thing counts,” said coach Randy Rundgren. “We know that we can play like today and we also know we will have games where we win 2-0. This is such a special group with nine seniors and seven in the starting lineup.”
The Trojans (20-3) travel to the Lorain Pipe Yard this Thursday for the Regional Semi Finals against New Middletown Springfield. Game time is at 5:30 pm.
