Girls Varsity Volleyball · Lady Trojans Defeat Elyria Catholic 3-2

The Varsity Volleyball team defeated Elyria Catholic in a nail biter last night in 5 sets. The scores of the games were 25-21, 23-25, 18-25, 25-16, 15-13. After dropping game 2 and game 3, the Lady Trojans fought back to win game 4 convincingly and in game 5 saw themselves down by 3 points. The girls tied it up at 13-13 and with a great defensive play by sophomore Abby Zoeckler, the Trojans went up 14-13. Senior Captain Jayme Zoeckler finished game 5 with a smart play to end the match. The team was led offensively by junior Amie McCarthy with 19 kill, Zoeckler with 15 kills and 31 assists, senior captain Nina Scaparotti with 9 kills and junior Sophia Galek with 8 kills and 21 assists. Defensively, the team was led by senior captain, Sam Ratliff with 17 digs and 3 assists, senior captain Olivia Galek with 14 digs and outstanding defensive play throughout the match by Scaparotti with 11 digs which she spark a comeback win in game one.

The Lady Trojans (5-1, 4-1) are back in action tonight against CVC foe Kirtland.
